DAY 14 ROUND-UP – Goalball and tennis finals bring down curtain on 2023 IBSA World Games

The goalball and tennis finals brought down the curtain on 14 days of fantastic action at the 2023 IBSA World Games.
China took the gold in the women’s goalball final with a 3-0 victory over Japan to secure a place at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
The men’s final between South Korea and Japan was more eventful, however, as the eventual winners Japan had to come from behind early on to secure a 7-3 victory to take the gold medal.
Pakistan’s Naqi Rizvi won gold in the B1 men’s tennis final, defeating Lithuania’s Karolis Verbliugevicius 5-4 5-4, while Australia’s Grace Hobbs won the B1 women’s final with a 4-0 4-0 triumph over Colombia’s Nathalia Benavides.
Elsewhere, Britain’s Monica Smith and her tennis partner, Pakistan’s Naqi Rizvi, won the B1 mixed doubles with a 7-6 victory over Spain’s Carlos Arbos Ginard and Italy’s Daniela Pieri.
