DAY 10 ROUND UP – Pakistan VI Men book place in cricket finals

Day ten of the IBSA World Games saw Pakistan VI Men book their place in the tournament’s first ever men’s and women’s cricket finals, which are taking place at Edgbaston Stadium this Saturday (26 August).

A six wicket victory over Australia VI Men was their third consecutive victory at the World Games, having already beaten Bangladesh and India on their way to the final.

One of England VI Men, India VI Men or Bangladesh VI Men now await Pakistan VI Men in Saturday’s showcase.

India VI Women are also set for Edgbaston in the cricket finals with three wins from three so far, with their most recent being a 163 run victory over Australia.

Argentina’s blind men’s football side are also following in the women’s footsteps after they booked a place in Friday’s football final, which is taking place at University of Birmingham’s Bournbrook Pitch (kick off 6.30pm).

It comes after Argentina defeated south American rivals Colombia 3-1. They will face China in the final, who defeated Brazil 1-0 on penalties after a 0-0 stalemate.

The eagerly-awaited judo competition also got underway with a bumper line-up of bouts, the results of which can be found here.

Elsewhere, there were some excellent results for the Great Britain team at the first day of the tennis tournament – producing 14 victories out of a possible 19 for GB.

In the B3 category, Paul Ryb sailed through his matches with scores of 4-0, 4-0 and Sarah Fortescue won her matches 4-0, 4-2 and 4-0, 4-0.
